SAY YES TO THE HEADDRESS: Chanel’s hat maker Maison Michel will launch her first bridal collection this coming February.

“I wanted to celebrate love with modern pieces that were all about the shapes and the white color code – not too princess-like, uncomplicated – [in a] Implementation of what we do at Maison Michel, ”said Artistic Director Priscilla Royer, who wants these pieces to have a life beyond the occasion and become part of their own style. “And keep thinking selfishly about your special day,” she joked.

Consisting of 15 hats and headgear in the characteristic shapes of the brand, the first collection is identified by a white label with gold lettering. It becomes the basis for a permanent bridal line, with additional models being added every year.

Styles range from classic wedding headwear to a variety of headband styles, including a floral wrap-around version and a pillbox hat called Jackie that’s draped in a dramatic tulle; to more modern options like the New Billy Beret and the Souna Bucket Hat, both with a birdcage veil. The Henrietta Fedora and Kiki boat hat will resemble a more unisex approach, as reflected in a series of Polaroids that they capture on male heads.

The prices are based on the seasonal counterparts of each model and start at around 300 euros for a curved hair clip or simpler headbands and up to 600 euros for more elaborate turbans and sun hats.

Maison Michel’s bridal collection will be available in the brand’s flagship stores and e-commerce, as well as through its network of retailers such as Le Bon Marché, Harrods and Net-a-porter.
