Queensland has recorded no new cases in the community after fears a Gold Coast man who tested positive on Wednesday was contagious in the community for 10 days.

Queensland saw no new COVID-19 cases as the state hit its 60 percent milestone on double-dose vaccination.

Deputy Prime Minister Steven Miles said that despite no new cases, new contact tracing locations were added after two people escorted out of the state tested positive in New South Wales.

“Two people who have now tested positive in NSW have been escorted out of the state by Queensland police and a truck driver who tested positive in Victoria,” he said.

“I think it just highlights how close this virus is to our border, how close it is to getting here, and how urgent it is to get everyone vaccinated.”

Mr Miles said pop-up vaccination clinics are driving high vaccination numbers as 74.6 percent received their first dose.

As of Saturday, more than 28,000 people were given a vaccine, of which more than 13,500 were given in clinics.

After more than 8,000 tests performed in the past 24 hours, zero cases were detected.

Health officials remain concerned about the 36-year-old Uber driver who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, the first local infection in the Sunshine State in two weeks.

The man had been in COVID-stricken Melbourne before returning to the Gold Coast on October 11.

His entry into Queensland is still under investigation by the police.

The 36-year-old, who has not used the QR code tracking system since September 18, is so sick that authorities have difficulty communicating with him.

“Today is the day you have to come out and get tested,” Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young told reporters on Thursday.

“And please don’t wait like that poor gentleman to be so breathless that he can barely talk to us.”

An Uber spokesman told Sky News Australia the man hadn’t ridden with the company since September 19.
