The urge for More diversity in motorsport has increased over the past year, and that means more opportunities are opening up for People of Color – including a new initiative from 23XI Racing in NASCAR, the SPEED Institute.

SPEED stands for Scholarships, professional training, leadership development and the entire institute are intended to offer students or job seekers who want to get into motorsport a multitude of new opportunities.

“It is an exciting time for us at 23XI Racing to announce our SPEED Institute and to further expand our efforts for diversity, equity and inclusion in motorsport,” said Denny Hamlin, co-owner of 23XI Racing. “When we founded 23XI, it was an important focus for our company and our vision for the future. We want to create an opportunity for students to feel welcome in motorsport and to open doors for them, either by working directly with us or by working with our partners to find opportunities to learn and grow. We are fortunate to have a great group of partners who not only support our on-track endeavors, but also off-track with our DEI endeavors, and the SPEED Institute is the next step in that growth. ”

The various services offered include:

  • Scholarship programs for students interested in automotive and motorsport-related goals such as marketing, communications, human resources, finance, engineering, or business schools.
  • Paid internships designed to provide graduates and students with hands-on experience in the world of motorsport. Depending on the type of activity, these internships can be completed in person or virtually.
  • Scholarships for graduate, undergraduate or postgraduate students in STEM areas; these students are hired after they graduate.
  • Diversity Recruitment and Executive Development, which means the team will endeavor to eliminate prejudice in hiring practices and seek qualified applicants in under-represented communities.
