Select businesses in downtown York to receive Bloom Grant funding

Select Downtown York companies have been selected to receive Bloom Grant funding from Downtown Inc. to help them restore or expand their businesses.

Downtown Inc announced the recipients of the Downtown Bloom Grant 2021 in a press release. The 10 Downtown Companies That Are Getting Financing And What To Do With It Include:

  • A Chinatown Express: Buying new kitchen appliances
  • C&P Media LLC: Buying new video equipment
  • Trust from CC: Improvements in the attractiveness of curbs / placements, improvements in lighting; and security upgrades
  • Lori Vs Pizza and Fried Delights: Purchase of a new convection oven and POS upgrade
  • m.Elene Vintage: updated exterior lighting and space improvements in the courtyard
  • Mudhook Brewing Company: Buying a two-way indoor chimney
  • Neama’s Egyptian food: Buying new equipment
  • Our Sons & Daughters LLC: Investing in new product lines, remodeling existing facilities and improving marketing opportunities
  • Sattva center for mediation and yoga: Facade improvements with new signage, furniture for logging in and shelves for goods
  • World grills: Acquisition of new equipment and interior renovations

The $ 25,000 grant was raised by Downtown Inc. during the Give Local York 2021 campaign and will provide vital resources to ensure these companies continue to thrive, the press release said. Individual amounts made available to companies range from $ 500 to $ 3,000.

“By helping our city’s businesses today, Downtown is hoping they will contribute to a better York tomorrow,” the press release said.

According to the press release, the YoCo Bloom grant program was launched in 2018 and expanded in 2019 to include an downtown-facing grant specifically designed to help downtown businesses meet a specific need that will help them be more productive to increase and to expand or improve their services.

“We have seen time and time again how important these grants were to the small businesses in our community in making sure they keep growing and thriving,” said Elaine Bonneau, director of Downtown Inc with this new round of Downtown Bloom Grants straight into the Hands of small business owners.

Of the 10 companies funded, six are owned by BIPOC and seven are owned by women.

As of 2018, Bloom Grants have awarded $ 265,000 to 89 small businesses and nonprofits, of which over 53 percent were owned by colored people and over 62 percent were owned or run by women.
