Former head coach of the Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders, Hue Jackson, will coach Grambling’s legendary soccer program.

Jackson, who spent that season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in the state of Tennessee, is filling the position created when Grambling fired eighth-year coach Broderick Fobbs last month.

“A pro and winner in all walks of life, Hue is a mentor to some of the best professional football players in the NFL,” said Sporting Director Traveon Scott.

Jackson spent 18 years in the NFL as a head coach or assistant with Washington, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Baltimore, the Raiders (who later moved to Las Vegas) and Cleveland. Prior to that, he worked for three Pac-12 programs (Arizona State, California, and Southern California) for about a decade.

Grambling, a historically black university that made football famous under College Football Hall of Fame coach Eddie Robinson Jr., has won 25 Southwestern Athletic Conference championships.

That year the Tigers fought their way up to a 4-7 mark but finished on November 27 with a 29-26 win over Southern in the Bayou Classic with a high score. Grambling has been around since his 11th -2 in 2017.
