Such software can combine results from multiple meters, vertically stack results from breakfast, lunch, and dinner so meal times on different days can be easily compared, color-code results, and create charts to analyze blood glucose patterns much more easily.

What is shown in a profile?
When healthcare professionals log into the DMS, they can view all patient cases associated with their account. The dashboard gives an overview of all these patients and contains important information such as name, age, contact number, groups they are assigned to and when their last blood glucose test was taken. This makes it easier for healthcare professionals to quickly search patient information.
The DMS also includes useful tabs that automatically filter cases that have recently uploaded a hypo or hyper blood glucose result. Clicking on these tabs updates the dashboard to only show people whose blood glucose levels are too high (hyperglycemia) or too low (hypoglycemia).
Why group cases?
With such a large number of cases linked to a DMS, additional filtering can also greatly simplify case load management. Groups can be created and cases assigned to them. Grouping can be useful to combine cases that have similar treatment modalities, age groups, or are part of testing groups. For example, it is possible to display only the cases that are being treated with insulin, separately from those that are treating their diabetes without insulin. This can be done by creating a group.
Once a group has been created, cumulative statistics for that group can be viewed. The total number of patients and medical staff assigned to this group is displayed. Most importantly, it shows the average blood glucose result of everyone in the group along with the number of cases that reported hyperglycemic or hypoglycemic cases. The overall percentage of tests that were in the hyperglycemic or hypoglycemic range is also displayed.
Filtering makes data clearer
Many details are available on a case-by-case basis. Viewing data for a specific person in detail can provide better insight into their blood glucose status and the success of their diabetes management regime. Test results from the last 7, 14, 30, or 90 days can be viewed and are color-coded according to whether they are above target, below target, or within target.
Results of blood glucose meter tests before and after meals are also paired and underlined. The color of the underline is determined by the degree of change in blood sugar levels during the meal. An increase of more than 60 mg/dL can be concerning and is therefore underlined in red to indicate a large increase. A small increase of less than 30 mg/dL is indicated by a blue underline. However, normal increases between 30 and 60 mg/dL are not underlined. This helps healthcare professionals to quickly see and understand a patient’s postprandial glycemic behavior.
A detailed summary of glucose data is also provided. A bar chart shows the percentages of cases in hyper, hypo, and target ranges along with outliers. Estimated A1c is also displayed and can be compared week-by-week to identify signs of overall glucose management progress.

A final key aspect of a good DMS is the level of functionality that is included to facilitate smooth patient-caregiver communication. With Rightest DMS, comments can be added to specific blood glucose test results, which will then appear in the Rightest Care app used by patients.
