Benue South 2023: Apa, Agatu PDP actors back Ogaji’s senatorial ambition

The senatorial ambition of former Oju local government executive chairman and incumbent business mogul, Chief Hon. Bright Igodo Ogaji received another boost on Thursday as stakeholders from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state’s Apa and Agatu counties cast their weight behind his quest to represent Benue South in the Senate in 2023.

The senator candidate said while addressing the Apa PDP caucus in Ugbokpo, the local government headquarters, that he was in the race to bring quality and effective representation to the people, stressing that he was leading an all-encompassing leadership and service model would if he were given that opportunity.

“With due respect to our previous leaders who have held the position of senator, they have done their best, they have served in their own way to do the best they could to give us. And I think we should applaud them,” said Chief Ogaji.

His words: “Yes, her [past senators] have tried. But I come to you differently than any of you, as your son, as part of this community. For you to see the need, as church people that we are, for you to see the difference between sending a big message and sending a message to a little boy. Starting from me, by the grace of God, as one of you, as I said, in my own pattern of government and ministry as a Senator representing the good people of Zone C, I will lead an overall pattern of leadership and ministry , I will lead a people-oriented leadership and service pattern. And I will show people a participatory pattern of leadership and service. That way every vote counts. Your vote, your opinion counts. And this is the only way we can bring about the necessary changes together that we are all demanding.”

In their separate replies, Apa PDP Chairman Hon. Joseph Otokpa, Chairman of the Legislative Council, Agaji Magaji and Hon. Mrs. Blessing Adanu, speaking for half of the women, all expressed their confidence in the Hon to give fair, equitable and all-encompassing representation to the good people of Zone C, and pledged him the support of the Apa delegates in the party’s upcoming primaries.

Similarly, PDP actors in Obagaji, the headquarters of Agatu’s local government, gave their blessing to the senatorial hopeful while assuring him of the maximum number of votes for Agatu delegates in the party’s primaries.

The Agatu PDP Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Eche, Chairman of the Legislative Council, Hon. Ochekwu Alilu, Women’s Leader, Hon. Mrs. Maria Ngaji, and Elder Fodio Achegbani, speaking on behalf of the delegates, commended Chief Ogaji for his youthful vibrancy, courage and his eloquence and stressed that he was the kind of leader that people needed to voice their concerns in front of the Red Chamber.

Earlier, Chief Ogaji had told the Agatu Caucus that coming from a humble and disadvantaged section himself, he was well acquainted with the suffering and aspirations of the people of Agatu.

He reiterated his promise to lead a fair and full model of representation when he receives the mandate as Benue South Senator in 2023.
