Bon Marché, the new French-themed farmers’ market in downtown Menlo Park, heads into winter with earlier hours and changing vendors. The idea of Bistro Vida owner Ali El Safy, Bon Marché, opened on October 27th and is open Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. in the 600 block on Santa Cruz Avenue.

A recent stroll through the market found stalls selling classic French goodies like crpes and macarons while Yves Montand sang “Sous le Ciel de Paris” over the sound system. Little Sky Bakery was busy selling bread, and surrounding stalls sold tempting displays of produce, honey, mushrooms, flowers, and ice cream. The market was picking up around 5:30 p.m., and as day turned into night, fairy lights scattered across the top of the market glowed giving things a bright hue.

The market is one of the newest pilots in Menlo Park to reinvent life in the area as people needed more physical distance and attracted outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was organized with the city, the West Coast Farmers Market Association, and the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce.
